Travelling with power banks

Power banks (portable chargers) are classified as dangerous goods, and strict safety rules apply when flying. Please read these before you travel - they apply to every ValueJet flight.

Cabin only

  • Power banks and spare lithium batteries must be carried in cabin baggage.
  • They are not allowed in checked baggage.

Capacity limits (Watt-hours - Wh)

  • Up to 100Wh → allowed without approval.
  • 100Wh - 160Wh → requires prior airline approval.
  • Above 160Wh → not permitted.

Quantity limit

  • A maximum of two (2) approved power banks (100Wh - 160Wh) per passenger.

Safety precautions

  • Each must be individually protected against short-circuit - original packaging, or terminals taped or covered.
  • They must not be used or charged onboard unless the crew permits it.
  • Damaged, swollen or defective power banks are prohibited.

Passenger responsibility

  • Check the Wh rating printed on the device before you travel.
